Star light, star bright. . . A canceled wedding, an insistent ex-fiancé, a tempting job offer, and California girl Liann Rivers unexpectedly finds her dreams tied up in tiny Starlight, Texas. Except when she arrives, the job isn't what was promised, the move doesn't get rid of the pesky ex-fiancé, and her car won't even run. What's a girl to do?

Jake Tucker is tired of being responsible, tired of being the strong tower for his family, and ready to escape Starlight, once and for all. The chance of a lifetime—coaching football at the college level—is finally within reach. Except there’s this new girl in town, and somehow he can’t see himself anywhere without her.

When choices threaten Liann’s job and reputation, Jake must choose between his career and the woman he loves, even if that means staying in Starlight. Forever.

I like the good examples of prayer in here. This is a nice clean story but I think it has a few little issues. First, I was totally surprised when the two main characters, who hardly knew each other and didn't have a developed relationship, when the guy suddenly surprised her with a private outing and a kiss. That was quite the unprofessional the jump between coaches. And another issue I had was how her ex wasn't explained until later in the book. I get that books create interest by letting answers come in time, but it didn't work here. I was thinking about how her ex was a pastor trained in love and eager to marry her, and how she admitted that she just went along with his desires and didn't speak up about her own, and then ran away before the wedding. I was thinking that something is not right. It seemed she didn't even talk to him to give him a chance...what's wrong with her? Don't people deserve a chance after being talked to? Until understanding came later, I thought she had big issues and was flakey and why was this relationship being forced to happen? I thought it weird that parents would leave a kid behind when they moved, and that a big football school would scout an assistant coach of a small town, not that I know how these things work....id just think there'd be a head coach of a bigger suburb that would more likely be recruited be a college. There were a few places that need minor editing, too. I liked the beekeeping and descriptions of the heat and football fever since I've never been to Texas.

Counting on Starlight Lone Star Hearts Book 2 edition by Lynette Sowell Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

I'm not much of a reader but I know the author so I read the first one and couldn't wait to read the second. Now I'm on to the third. Thanks for writing such clean romantic books! Great job Lynette!
Having lived in the area I am loving reliving the best of our time at Ft Hood through Lynette's amazing writing styles.
I love this book because it has a great story with good Christian values. I saw a review that said there are 3 books in this series. I bought one other one, but I wish I knew what the 3rd one is because I would like to read all of them. I will be looking for as many of Lynette Sowell's books as I can find.
Nice, happily ever-after story.
Story of two young people trying to find their way in their occupations, lives, independent, and all while trying to live their faith. Truly a sweet adventure.
A Christian romance. A young woman cancels her wedding and high tails it out of California for Texas to get a new beginning. She is hired as the teacher for the color guard at a small Texas high school. The coach is the first person she really meets on her own. she is not looking for romance but you can tell this is where it is going. It seems to be the story of a simple small town and the people that live there.

I have to admit that I am not a fan of Christian romance and I didn't see anywhere that this is what this book was, so I am not the greatest reviewer of this story. it seems like it is a good enough story and if you like Christian romance, I think you will enjoy this one.

I was not paid for this review. I am not an author nor am I kin to this one. I am just a reader and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less.
Liann Rivers realized at the last minute that her fiancé made everything all about him and his wants and needs. She cancels wedding plans, tells him good-bye, and moves to Starlight, Texas, to live with her aunt and uncle and coach the color guard at the high school. She’s attracted to Jake Tucker, the assistant football coach, but besides her being on the rebound, they have a lot pulling them apart. First of all, Jake plans to leave Starlight to coach at a college, and she’s wary of changing herself too much, as she did the first time. In addition, her job is just part time, and there’s a full-time position opening up back in California. When her old fiancé shows up and Jake’s sister runs away with a boy, everything comes to a head.

Although I think I enjoyed the first Starlight book more, this was still a wonderful read. I thought the ending was just a little weak, but it was still a cut above many.
